In 2012 I travelled to Tokyo with my good friend Sean.
We had this trip planned for a year, and it was disastrous timing that my father passed away during the exact time we were meant to fly. After some time we were able to reschedule and fly away as planned.
Travel to Japan can be accompanied by some culture shock and feelings of isolation; tack onto this the pain of grieving my father’s death…this trip ended up changing me and shaping me in ways I am still discovering today.
Many of these images were shot with a Mamiya 645 body on various films purchased in Tokyo – developed by Richard Photo Lab in California.
